José Medrado, medium multiple colleges, some raised from childhood, other teens, began painting mediumistically age 27, when the spirit Renoir came to him proposing to transform paint into bread.

Initially, Medrado reluctant to accept the invitation because I had never done any painting course and did not understand art. But the proposal was exactly this, turn it into brush vivo and thus help support the orphanage run by the Centre, which was undergoing financial difficulties.

The first sketches were discouraging as they persevered, however. After the first unsuccessful attempts, on the night of December 20, 1988, to the sound of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the spirit Van Gogh, through you, portrayed this German composer Beethoven who lived about a hundred years before the Dutch painter. The results, then, were remarkable foreshadowing what later would occur, projecting Medrado in mediumistic art scene, not only in Bahia, but in Brazil and abroad. Medrado performs publicly, in minutes, psychic work that professional painters would take considerable time to complete. Generally, in public paintings, manifest the Impressionists, most of them French painters who lived in the nineteenth century. But also paints mediumistically atelier, which predominantly classic painting, painters sacred, Renaissance, etc..

Before painting publicly Medrado underwent evaluation of many art critics, who identified the screens produced by it, traces of Renoir, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Edouard Manet, Picasso.

Let's see what Matilde Mattos said about the medium, the Jornal da Bahia, on 05/05/90. "We know that you never had the training of the painting would never be able to do a few strokes, rub them away and leave a frame. Would have a lot of experience and practice to get to know what effect, changing the colors and balance of composition.'s almost impossible for a hand poorly trained! And if Medrado, the figures are well focused and the proportions are always correct. " (Matilde Mattos is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and the Brazilian Association of Art Critics).

All proceeds obtained through painting mediumship is destined, beyond aid to other institutions, the maintenance of the charities of the City of Light: Light of Tomorrow Lar, distributing food baskets, layettes ... while keeping the agreement signed at the time , Renoir with Medrado that the mediumistic faculty will be suspended if there were distancing its basic purpose, philanthropy. Since 1988, the painting of psychic Medrado therefore been acting in good to others.
